Preface

Flow, a mysterious energy that is the source of Life in the Storm, of that most are sure. Of its origins and applications on the other hand, we only scrapped the surface, of that I am certain.

To what extent is Flow part of our life? Most know that it is essential of course, but have you ever paused to consider how much it is? We consume and are made in part of it but what is it exactly? This is what I will try to decipher here in this book.

Chapter 1 - What is Flow

Flow as it is understood now, is a form of energy which in its purest form would be like pure prismatic light. It is one of the three Primordial Ingredient key to our existence and the workings of the universe. It seems to be related mostly to things like life, light, emotion and will. Many cultures have taken upon themselves to call it the Force of Movement. It seems to be the conductor of many moving parts of our world.

We, as any other lifeform in the Storm are made in part of Flow. In my time studying the works of the Weavers of the Firmament, I understood that the Flow within ourselves may be the source not only of our sustenance but also the source of our will. Which makes sense considering that our will is what puts us most into action. And so by consequence it is also required for our survival, because without it we wither, return to a state of pure stillness and die.

Flow is present within all living organisms may them be plants or animals. It is a universal form of nourishment and so it makes sense that this label of “Force of Movement” seems to be its most accurate description.

Chapter 2 - The Origins

Now that we have a better grasp of what Flow is, or at least what most of us believe it to be. Let’s look at its origins in multiple cultures beliefs.

The most common theory concerning its origins comes from the Poem of the Collision, one of the most ancient recorded text in our history still available to us. It depicts the collision of the Primordial with the Sands of the White Desert. At that time, the White Desert seemed to be a perfectly still place. Nothing ever happened there, even the wind didn’t exists. It was as some would say a white canvas, ready to receive its paint. And the artist that would paint on this white canvas was the Primordial. The change it produced in Existence was the spark that created our world.

Many believe that the arrival of the Primordial in itself was the principal factor in the creation of this force of Movement. From that perspective, it makes sense, as it was the first thing to produce any sort of movement within our Universe, the spark to kickstart the fire as one might say. The sheer colossal force of the appearance of such a massive object within a dormant universe seems to be a reasonable source for the apparition of this force.
