The residents of Vark Nalaror had been the ones who asked the Sarjai to hunt the Shattered beast that was haunting the surrounding wilds.

And so, now that the beast was no more, Nokoran returned there to inform the village of its success with his newfound young companion in tow.

He walked for almost a full beat to reach the peak that overlooked the small settlement. The wisp had followed him without hesitation. Although he did have to wait a few times for it to observe some things here and there. Quite curious it was that one.

They made their way down toward the village.

At its center, an ancient tower probably built by Wyv Orakir weavers had become the town’s tavern.

The people who were resolute enough to live on this frontier named it the Amber Spire, not for the colors of its walls which were classical Cerulean Empire white and blues, but for the color of the drink that was mainly served there.

They were apparently quite fond of its existence as it seemed to be the only building in somewhat good condition. The rest of the houses if you could call it that were built from ruins patched with wooden planks.

Nokoran entered the tavern followed by his newfound young companion. As they entered, they drew the eyes of the few patrons that were there. Drinking away their problems, or maybe searching for entertainment in their dreary lives. Although Nokoran did not envy them, he was very thankful for them to be willing to live here. Their work in providing food for Sargath had been very important in the last cycles.

"Found yourself a new friend Sarjai?" said the keeper as Nokoran approached.

"Well Londak, If it wasn't for this little fella, you guys would still be hunted down by that Shattered beast." he said with a smile.

Nokoran got a fang of the beast he had collected as proof out of his pouch and placed it on the counter.

"Well that is definitely good news, let me get your payment!" He turned his head at the wisp "And thank you too for saving the old fella, he's been bloody useful out here lately."

He then disappeared a few moments in the backroom.

"I think it might be a wild orphan." Nokoran said. “Unless you knew of some folks who were awaiting a child maybe?”

He and the barman looked at the curious serpentine child sniffing a mug left by a past patron.

"Not to my knowledge... People who come live here usually do so for a few cycles and return to the City…”
